Gomel hosts Roman Gumanyuk’s art exhibition

        An exhibition, Pripyat Lights, or Chernobyl Shadows, of Kyrgyz painter Roman Gumanyuk will open at the Vashchenko Art Gallery of Gomel.
Roman Gumanyuk’s first exhibition, Under a Starry Sky, took place at the National Museum of Fine Arts of Kyrgyzstan in 2000. The exposition was dedicated to the Chernobyl accident. Some 12 years later the artist paid a visit to Ukraine, toured the polluted areas and the abandoned town of Pripyat, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant itself. Impressions from what the artist saw made the basis for his present exhibition.Pripyat Lights, or Chernobyl Shadows was displayed at Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, in November-December 2012 and at the Kasteev State Museum of Arts of Kazakhstan in Almaty in February.  
Roman Gumanyuk works in various genres and painting techniques. His works are kept in private collections across the globe. The artist has so far held 15 personal exhibitions in Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. He also took part in art expositions of Kyrgyzstan in France, the United States, and in the 6th International Modern Art Biennale in Italy.
The exhibition in Gomel will run until 13 March.
