Belarus, Russia find common ground on Soyuzkali

Belarus and Russia have reconciled their positions on the establishment of the joint venture Soyuzkali. “We have been working to set up Soyuzkali for a long time already. Actually, the paperwork on it was done a year ago,” First Vice-Premier Vladimir Semashko informed. However, several issued had to be resolved and several decisions had to be approved at the session of the supervisory board of Belarusian Potash Company, which is a forerunner of Soyuzkali, the First Vice-Premier noted. In his words, there was a lack of understanding on the both sides, therefore a dozen sessions were held. The matter was also discussed at sessions of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers. As a result, all the issues were settled. “All the necessary documents and positions have been agreed on. Now we should get down to registration,” Vladimir Semashko said.
He informed that Belarusian Potash Company will keep working; during the transition period it will perform the same functions as it does now. When Soyuzkali is set up, Belarusian Potash Company will act as its general office in Minsk, while Soyuzkali will be headquartered in Switzerland.
