Mir Castle on British magazine’s list of most beautiful castles in Europe

The British online edition femalefirst.co.uk has compiled the list of 23 Most Beautiful Castles in Europe, which features Belarus’ architectural landmark – Mir Castle.
The edition reads that the Mir Castle Complex has suffered a turbulent history, after being abandoned for nearly a century. The castle was restored at the end of the 19th century, still holding on to elements of Renaissance and Baroque style with a number of new stunning editions like the beautiful surrounding park and waterway.
Mir Castle is an exceptional example of a central European castle, reflecting in its design and layout successive cultural influences (Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance) that blend harmoniously to create an impressive monument to the history of this region. In 2000 Mir Castle was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. In December 2010 the castle was reopened after renovation.
The complex comprises the castle itself, a family vault, an Italian Renaissance garden, an English garden and a pond. Mir concert venues traditionally play host to music, medieval, arts and crafts festivals.
