RPTS Party vying for seats in Belarus’ local councils of deputies

he Republican Labor and Justice Party (RPTS) plans to nominate about 1,000 candidates at elections to the local councils of deputies in Belarus, RPTS Chairman Mr Vasily Zadnepryany said.
“In late 2012 we summed up results of the parliamentary campaign and at the party congress we made the decision to take an active part in elections to local councils. We expect to nominate about 1,000 people as candidates,” said Vasily Zadnepryany.
The RPTS Chairman remarked that 15 Belarusian parties have as many as 1,050 primary organizations in the regions, while 252 or about a quarter of the total are primary organizations of the Republican Labor and Justice Party. According to Vasily Zadnepryany, it will allow the party to be decently represented at the elections to the local councils of deputies. The RPTS attaches special importance to the participation in the election campaign. “While the parliament deals with more global tasks and is therefore somewhat distant from the population, the local councils have to handle people’s problems all the time. It is the place to concretely demonstrate work for the people and to raise our economic level,” underlined Vasily Zadnepryany.
