Seminar “Energy efficiency and green energy: experiences and solutions from the Nordic countries” in Minsk

Johannes Rau International Centre for Education and Exchange in Minsk hosted a seminar “Energy efficiency and green energy: experiences and solutions from the Nordic countries”.

Among the coordinators and organizers of the event was Energopro Group of companies from Belarus. As its Chief Development Officer Vadim Titovets told our correspondent, the seminar helped highlight matters of private-public partnership. At the same time he pointed out that the Belarusian company has already had several successful projects in energy efficiency with Nordic partners, and sees its mission in bringing new technologies and advanced practices to Belarus.

Belarus realizes the importance of sharing energy efficiency technologies and expertise with partners from Nordic countries, said Mikhail Malashenko, deputy Chair of State Standardization Committee and director of the Energy Efficiency Department. According to him, without such events Belarus would have never achieved the successes in the use of alternative local fuels which the country can boast of today.

Nordic experiences in green energy and energy efficiency were presented by representatives of ministries, energy agencies and other relevant institutions from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The seminar was followed by a B2B event organized by the Energopro Group of companies from Belarus.

Lauri Pullola, Head of Embassy of Finland Liaison Office in Belarus, Sarunas Radvilavicus, Deputy Director of the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Lithuania, and Veli-Pekka Heiskanen, Principal Scientist from the Technical Research Center of Finland, provided their comments on the event to Radio Belarus own correspondent Marina Dragina.
