Belarus’ short film wins awards at two Russian festivals

Alexander Maksimov’s short film Mimo Terniy (Past Rough Ways, Belarus) got the People’s Choice Award at the international short film and animation festival Videnie in Kemerovo (Western Siberia). Apart from that, the Belarusian film was named the best foreign picture at the Short Film Festival First Step in Veliky Novgorod in late September.
According to Alexander Maksimov, the 12-minute film tells the story of a female reporter who tries to follow the career of a young filmmaker. The film was shot in Minsk.
The international short film and animation festival Videnie has been held in Kemerovo since 2007. Partaking in the festival have been young filmmakers from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the United States, Serbia, the UK, Spain, Portugal and France.
