        The Swiss company Franck Muller has invested $2.82 million in the modernization and retooling of OAO Minsk Watch Plant (Luch trademark), Franck Muller representative Ege Tibin told media.
        According to the source, the company plans to invest another $800,000 in the retooling of the Belarusian enterprise by the end of the year in order to gradually improve the status and positions of the company in market outlets. “Thanks to the measures, which are being taken, it will be possible to export 70-80% of the make in the future and feel rather confident in the industry,” he believes.
       Mr Andrei Stempen, Chief Engineer of OAO Minsk Watch Plant, said that thanks to the investments they had managed to considerably improve the quality of their products. The enterprise has renewed the outdated equipment and has introduced modern technologies.
       At present the company is mastering the production of silicate glass for watches. There are plans to manufacture sapphire crystals in the future as well. It will be the first time sapphire crystals are produced in Belarus, said the specialist.
