Results of the national movie contest summed up

Results of the national movie contest have been summed up as part of the international cinema festival Listapad 2014 in Minsk. The best works by Belarusian movie directors were awarded during the ceremony that took place in the movie theater Pobeda on 12 November, BelTA reports.

The Belarusian-Swedish documentary Perekrestok (crossroads) directed by Anastasia Miroshnichenko and the Belarusian movie “Afghanistan. I remember” directed by Halima Hasanova received the prize for the best documentary. The Belarusian cartoon Rondeau-сapriccioso by Igor Volchek was named the best animated film. Awards also went to the Belarusian animated film Old Piano’s Tales. Chopin directed by Irina Kodyukova, the feature film Granny, Vanya and the Goat (France-Belarus, directed by Darya Yurkevich), and two documentaries — Minsk Ghetto Chronicles (Belarus, directed by Vladimir Lutsky) and The Lost Cause. Return To Bischofswerda (Belarus, directed by Yuri Gorulev).

It was the first time a national movie contest had been held as part of the international movie festival Listapad. The contest gathered 24 pictures, including ten documentaries, seven animated films, and seven feature films.
