Belarusian industrialists advocate the creation of a single energy market in the Eurasian Economic Union

Belarusian industrialists advocate the creation of a single energy market in the Eurasian Economic Union, Dmitry Kharitonchik, the chairman of the permanent commission for industry, fuel and energy complex, transport and communications of the House of Representatives, told reporters. “The EEU Treaty brings more pluses than minuses. But we would like pluses to be more. For example, industrialists would like to see a single energy market, which would significantly reduce production costs,” the MP said. Dmitry Kharitonchik stressed that the agreements that have already been signed, for example, on the free movement of goods, the establishment of a single customs space within the union, and also the documents on common principles and approaches to phyto-sanitary standards, and others will allow Belarusian manufacturers to promote sale of their goods in the union and in foreign markets. "Our partners have big economic opportunities to support their producers, and this, of course, causes some concern. If they start applying special stimulating measures, this can have a negative effect on our industry,” Dmitry Kharitonchik said.
