It is necessary to create and maintain the necessary conditions for a healthy and comfortable life throughout the world, said member of the Council of the Republic Igor Brilevich commenting on the speech of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the climate summit in Baku, BelTA learned from the Council of the Republic.
“In his speech at the World Climate Summit in Baku, the president of the Republic of Belarus highlighted the lack of efficiency worldwide to fight against climate change, and reiterated Belarus’ strict compliance with international obligations on preventing global warming. Our young country, thanks to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, pays much attention to combating climate change. The climate action measures range from restoring lowlands and swamps to using modern environmental technologies in agriculture and industry,” Igor Brilevich said.
According to Igor Brilevich, the absence of a number of countries at this conference suggests that they do not care much about climate change and are interested in promoting only their parochial material interests. “After all, today we need to think not only about ourselves, but also about our descendants. They should inherit a world where they could live a healthy and comfortable life. This problem defies borders and it needs to be solved by joint efforts,” noted the member of the Council of the Republic.
“Yet, we know our president. In his short speech, he managed not only to name the main culprits of the current climate disasters, but also to outline specific ways to rectify the situation. But for this, as Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized, it is necessary to take into account not only the interests, but also the capabilities of various states,” added Lyudmila Sapego.
