The Dortmund-based German company ThyssenKrupp Uhde GmbH will supply equipment for a new nitric acid shop at OAO Grodno Azot as part of a joint project. According to the contract, the German partner undertook to license Grodno Azot, do the designing, supply the equipment and provide other services to implement the project. It will facilitate Grodno Azot’s activities aimed at enhancing food security and boosting the competitiveness of products, the company said. They added that the construction of the new shop will help strengthen their positions on traditional markets and successfully penetrate the new ones. Apart from nitric acid the new shop will produce ammonium nitrate solution and carbamide-ammoniac compound. The implementation of the project is expected to give a 60% boost in production capacity. This will help cut the consumption of fuel and energy resources per unit of output, decrease the emission of hazardous substances and improve working conditions for the staff. The estimated cost of the project stands at $200 million, of which the enterprise’s own funds equal to $30 million and the investors’ capital makes up $170 million. According to the company, the investment stage of the project is expected to conclude in Q4 2014.
