Team Belarus have won the first medals (silver and bronze) at the European Shooting Championship 2013 in Croatia’s Osijek. The Belarusian team won the men’s 50m rifle prone silver. The Belarusians came second with the result of 1,872.1 points. France got the first place with a new European record of 1,873.7 points while Denmark were third with 1,872.0 points. Olympic champion Sergei Martynov won the men’s 50m rifle prone bronze with 187.4 points. The gold medal went to Valerian Sauveplane of France (208.8 points) and silver to Henri Junghaenel of Germany (208.6 points).
The 34th European Shooting Championship also hosts some junior events. Belarus is represented in nine events of the championship. As many as 15 shooters will feature including Vitaly Bubnovich, Victoria Chaika, Ilya Chergeiko, Yan Chigileichik, Yuri Dolgopolov, Yevgenia Dikaya, Andrei Kozak, Yekaterina Kruchyonok, Dmitry Kutsenkov, Konstantin Lukashik, Artyom Lukyanovets, Sergei Martynov, Kirill Posokh, Zhanna Shepelevich and Yuri Shcherbatsevich.
The 34th European Shooting Championship concludes on 4 August.
