MAZ-SPORTauto team: New tactics brought good results at Silk Way rally

      The team MAZ-SPORTauto got a good result at the rally raid Silk Way 2013 thanks to the new tactics, Belarus’ MAZ-SPORTauto team driver Sergei Vyazovich told media.
      Sergei Vyazovich’s crew came in third while the other crew were sixth in the general classification in the trucks class at the 2013 Silk Way rally. “A high result was made possible thanks to the change in strategy and tactics of the race. At all previous races we tried to start very fast, tie ourselves up to the leaders and keep up with them. However, this led to emergencies or breakdowns,” Sergei Vyazovich said. The new tactics helped us minimize downtime and repair time during the races. “We did not have any breakdowns or technical problems with the car, which led us to a high place in the table,” the driver said. Deputy Commercial Director of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) Dmitry Korotkevich cited the experts who said that in 2013 the Silk Way rally was even more difficult than famous Dakar in terms of stress levels for both vehicles and people. “Weather conditions were much harsher than at the latest Dakar because of high temperature and humidity. The organizers of the rally were afraid that drivers may suffer from overexposure to heat so they said they would disqualify the crews which did not have enough water,” Dmitry Korotkevich added.
