Gomel Chemical Plant increased its output by more than 20% in the last five years while export rose by more than 30%, BelTA learned from the company’s Director Dmitry Chernyakov at a session of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee on 22 October. The executive said: “Every year we increase output thanks to investments and reconstruction. Every year we revise our capabilities. Over the last five years we’ve raised output by more than 20% and export by more than 30%.”

Fertilizers represent the main product of Gomel Chemical Plant. The company exports 75% of the output. The main markets are Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia. Dmitry Chernyakov pointed out that the pandemic and other factors the company’s partners have encountered this year could have undermined export. “But we’ve managed to preserve and increase the volume of sales this complicated year. It is also complicated from the point of view of falling prices: world prices for some fertilizers have dropped by 20-25%. Thanks to our exclusive brands we’ve managed to reduce prices for merchandise by only 13-14%,” he explained.

The company is operating at 100% of its capacity. According to Dmitry Chernyakov, working for the future is the key. “We follow the principle of small steps: a project has to recoup investments within two to three years. We’ve been following the strategy all these years and it has produced results,” he said.
