Three Belarusian football clubs will take on their opponents in the first legs of the Europa League second qualifying round.FC Dinamo Minsk will encounter Croatia’s NK Lokomotiva Zagreb at Traktor stadium. Head coach of Dinamo Minsk the Dutch Robert Maaskant thinks that his side have prepared well for the clash with the strong Croatian team and will try to get a victory at home. His Croatian counterpart Tomislav Ivkovic noted during the pre-match press-conference that Dinamo are favorites for the upcoming tie. He said Dinamo have much more experience of competing in major European tournaments. However, he noted that the team from Zagreb will do their utmost to gain as many points as possible from the game in Minsk and be ready for the return. In the first qualifying round of the Europa League FC Dinamo Minsk won against Lithuania’s FK Kruoja twice, 3-0 away and 5-0 at home.
The Stroitel stadium in Soligorsk, Belarus, will feature the tie between Belarus’ FC Shakhtyor and Moldova’s Milsami. FC Shakhtyor’s manager Vladimir Zhuravel said prior to the game that his side are able to get a good result from the home match. The major task for the game, according to him, is not to concede a goal from counter-attacks and try to score as many goals as possible.
FC Minsk will be the only Belarusian team to start the Europa League second qualifying round away. They have been drawn against Valletta FC of Malta.
The Belarusian clubs will play the return Europa League matches on 25 July.
