Over 900 Russian military to participate in active phase of army exercise Slavonic Brotherhood 2020

Over 900 Russian military personnel and about 100 units of Russian hardware will take part in the active phase of the Belarusian-Russian army exercise Slavyanskoye Bratstvo 2020 [Slavonic Brotherhood], which is taking place in Belarus, the press service of the Russian Federation Defense Ministry told BelTA.On 23 September within the framework of the army exercise Slavonic Brotherhood 2020 military transport aircraft IL-76MD of the Russian Aerospace Forces airlifted a battalion tactical group of Russian paratroopers and air dropped them in the army exercise area Brestsky in Belarus.The source reminded that as part of the exercise another battalion tactical group of Russian paratroopers was previously delivered by rail to the army exercise area Gozhsky near Grodno while another battalion tactical group of Russian paratroopers was transported to the army exercise area Brestsky.During the active phase of the exercise Russian and Belarusian military personnel practice air dropping the main forces from IL-76MD aircraft and assault dropping forces from helicopters in designated areas. They also practice blocking a populated locality and destroying illegal armed groups.
