Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov of Kazakhstan will visit Belarus on 25-26 April. The Kazakhstan Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with top-ranking officials of Belarus. Serik Akhmetov is also set to visit a number of Belarusian enterprises, including BelAZ. As expected, he will also meet with the Club of Friends of Kazakhstan. Preparations for the visit of the Kazakhstan delegation were discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus at the end of March. Belarusian-Kazakh cooperation is of a strategic partnership based on traditionally friendly relations, mutual trust and respect between the peoples of the two states. The fundamental international legal instrument defining priority areas of bilateral interstate relations is the agreement between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan on friendship and cooperation signed in Minsk on 17 January 1996. All in all, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan have signed more than 60 international treaties. Bilateral dialogue at the high and highest levels, and inter-parliamentary and interregional cooperation have been increasingly vibrant. In 2012 the bilateral trade in goods and services exceeded $1 billion.
