Belarus, Tajikistan to discuss trade, economic cooperation

         Dushanbe plays host to the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental Belarus-Tajikistan commission on trade and economic cooperation. The parties discuss the ways of expanding bilateral trade, developing cooperation in agriculture, transport, social security, migration, healthcare, education and culture, interregional cooperation, as well as legal framework expansion.
The sides look into the promising areas of cooperation in industry including creation of joint companies to process agricultural products assemble MTZ tractors in the Republic of Tajikistan, supplies of BelAZ rock haulers in 2013-2014 and organization of its after-sales service.
In 2012 the trade between Belarus and Tajikistan totaled $57 million, down 20% from 2011. Belarus posted trade surplus of $39 million.
