Mir Castle welcomed its 500,000th visitor in February. The record was hit by a bank worker from Kaliningrad.
The 500,000th visitor and her family members received presents and a gift four-person certificate for visits in 2013.
Mir Castle is a unique specimen of the Belarusian’ national culture. In 2000 it was inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The architectural ensemble represents a castle-museum of the 16th-20th centuries, with the exposition occupying 39 exhibition halls, includes earth walls, picturesque parks and a pond, a family vault.
In October 2012, following a lengthy research in Bavaria, the Mir Castle specialists revealed a unique collection of portraits and crafts items belonging to the owners of the Mir Castle in the 19th century, descendants of the Radziwills family (through the female line). The museum is in talks with the owners of the collections on their possible exhibition in Belarus.
