Tsurkin of Belarus wins 50m butterfly gold at the Open Russian Swimming Championships

Yevgeny Tsurkin of Belarus won the 50m butterfly gold at the Open Russian Swimming Championships that are underway in Moscow. Two-time silver medalist of the London Olympics Alexandra Gerasimenya was third in the 100m freestyle event.

Tsurkin clocked 23.26 to clinch the highest award. Vladimir Morozov was second (23.43), with Vyacheslav Prudnikov touching in 23.58.

Gerasimenya showed the time of 54.38 to finish third in the 100m freestyle event behind Veronika Popova and Natalia Lovtsova (the winner).
