The Embassy of Belarus opens in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus opens in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Dmitry Mironchik told a press briefing in Minsk. 

The ceremony is held during the visit of Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Rybakov to Pakistan. The visit is carried out at the invitation of Pakistan as part of the first round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Pakistan:

"The opening of a Belarusian Embassy in Pakistan has been on the agenda ever since late 1990s. Pakistan is a large nation, 6th in the world in population, 7th in agricultural products export volumes, has 6th largest army in the world. It is also a huge market, which is projected to grow 3.5-4% annually. We see great promise in the development of our economic cooperation, primarily export of Belarusian heavy engineering products and potash fertilizer, chemical and petrochemical goods. But our relations go well beyond economy: Belarus and Pakistan successfully cooperate within international organizations. We believe that the opening of our Embassy will provide additional impetus to our relations."
