Belarus, Malaysia have prospects for further cooperation

Belarus and Malaysia have a good potential for further cooperation, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Mikhail Myatlikov said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Russia Loon Lai Cheong (with concurrent accreditation in Belarus). The parties discussed the key areas of economic interaction between the two countries, BelTA learned from the BelCCI press service.

Currently, two commodities - potash fertilizers and dairy products - account for about 95% of Belarusian exports to Malaysia. According to Mikhail Myatlikov, Belarus and Malaysia have a good potential for further interaction and diversification of imports and exports of goods and services, cooperation in the exchange of best practices and technology transfer. The exchange of scientific knowledge and technologies could help establish cooperation in such areas as agriculture, medicine, and information technologies.

“We attach great importance to interaction with Malaysia. We will be glad to receive delegations of Malaysian business representatives in Belarus and suggest arranging their visit during one of the international exhibitions to be held in the Republic of Belarus in 2025,” the BelCCI chairman said.

In addition, a proposal to conclude a cooperation agreement was submitted to the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The ambassador supported the initiatives and confirmed the readiness to establish ties with the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed interest in the development of economic cooperation between Malaysia and Belarus and suggested identifying areas of cooperation for businesses of the two countries.
