MPs to hold parliamentary readings dedicated to 80th anniversary of Great Victory

MPs will hold parliamentary readings dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives of Belarus Igor Marzalyuk told reporters, BelTA learned.

“We initiated parliamentary readings dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. We hold one event a month to highligh one or another aspect of the Great Victory. The first one was held at the National Art Museum in February. The next one is planned for March in Ozarichi. It will discuss the problems of destruction of the demographic potential of the Belarusian population during the Great Patriotic War. Mass destruction of the civilian population,” Igor Marzalyuk said. “The events in April will spotlight the Stalin Line of defense. The focus will be primarily on the events related to Minsk and Minsk Oblast during the years of occupation. In June we will highlight Brest Hero Fortress, in July - Operation Bagration. There will also be the Belarus Remembers campaign jointly with the Union of Writers of Belarus, which will be held here, in the parliament.”

According to him, the anniversary of the Great Victory is a triumph of life over death for Belarusians. “This is an event without which we would not exist either as a nation or as a state, neither mentally nor physically,” the MP said.
