Belarus, Iran take stock of legal framework of bilateral relations 

Minsk played host to the Belarusian-Iranian ministerial consultations on 14-15 January to take stock of the legal framework of bilateral relations and to discuss other international legal topics, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


 Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich delivered welcoming remarks to the participants of the consultations. The Belarusian delegation was headed by Andrei Popkov, the Director of the General Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Iranian delegation was led by Seyed Ali Mousavi, Director General of the Department for International Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

 


During consultations on 14 January, the parties discussed the status of the draft international legal documents under consideration with a view to finalizing their harmonization and preparing them for signing. The parties updated the lists of bilateral international treaties and other international documents in force between Belarus and Iran, and exchanged information on the practice of their implementation.


The parties also exchanged views on topical international legal issues within the framework of the UN and the SCO.
