Belarus sees rising global inequality as source of social discord

The world's rising inequality is a source of social discord, Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yuri Ambrazevich said during the 7th meeting of the CICA Council of Ministers held via video conference on 17 December, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The rising inequality in the world, the widening gap between the 'golden billion' and developing countries is a source of social discord, hatred and international terrorism," Yuri Ambrazevich said. “Subjective rules which are convenient for and controlled by a small group of states promoting their own world order are replacing international law.”

In his opinion, these conditions do not offer any prospects for tackling many global challenges such as climate change or the fight against cross-border organized crime.

"Are all these facts listed today a revelation for anyone? No. For many years Belarus has been talking about the degradation of international security and has been proposing the resumption of an active dialogue both at the regional European level and at the global level in order to create its renewed system," he emphasized.
