Marathon of Unity praised as uniting force

Chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Society Znanie, Director General of the National Library of Belarus Vadim Gigin spoke about the atmosphere of unity at the ongoing nationwide social and cultural campaign Marathon of Unity in the latest episode of BelTA’s project "The Nation Speaks".

Vadim Gigin has joined the Marathon of Unity in different cities and taken part in various projects of the nationwide campaign. Vadim Gigin also said that he attended many rehearsals, dress rehearsals and concerts “Time chose us” and other events. “I can see that this is a kind of exam for the performers, despite all their experience and merit. Participation in this campaign is of special importance for any artist. After all, they are often invited to perform in conditions that are not quite familiar to their, that is, in given circumstances. It is quite interesting,” he said.

The National Library director general also shared his observations over the audience, the atmosphere in the concert halls. “The audience is different. We conduct meetings and quizzes as part of the campaign and concert tickets are presented to winners. There are invited representatives of public organizations, political parties. There are people who come to enjoy the concert and meet the artists. When this several-thousand-strong audience becomes one literally from the first minutes, this is the very unity that we strive to achieve. This arena, this concert hall sends these rays [of unity] to every corner of the host city. This is how the city becomes a single whole. Then it all spreads throughout the regions and the entire country. In this way we connect this common fabric of our civic unity,” Vadim Gigin said.
