Chemodanova drops out of 2025 presidential race in Belarus

Olga Chemodanova has announced her decision to suspend her campaign in the upcoming presidential election in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

“At today’s board meeting of the Minsk city organization of the public association Belarusian Women's Union we have made a decision, and I am going to announce it,” Olga Chemodanova told the media.

According to her, Belarus has a clearly structured political system and any citizen, first of all a patriot of the country, can participate in the presidential election.

“The public association Belarusian Women's Union is demonstrating its political maturity today. We have seen the work of both the headquarters and the initiative groups. Most importantly, we have heard today’s request of our society to consolidate around our president. We understand perfectly well that no one but our President Aleksandr Lukashenko will be able to ensure our security, the security of our country in the first place and, of course, the progressive development of our state. We are the team of our president. We have always been and remain to be this team. The most important thing is that we are a reliable rear. In this regard, I have made the decision to suspend by participation in the 2025 election campaign,” Olga Chemodanova said.
