China’s Sichuan Province delegation visiting Gomel Oblast

A delegation from Sichuan Province of the People’s Republic of China is on a working visit to Gomel Oblast, BelTA learned from the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.

The delegation includes people working in science and information technology. It is led by Deputy Chair of the Sichuan People's Political Consultative Conference and Chair of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association Xie Shanghua.

Gomel Oblast Governor Ivan Krupko welcomed the Sichuan Province delegation. The guests were told about the commercial, industrial and socio-economic potential of the Belarusian region. Gomel Oblast is ready to cooperate with the Chinese business community across various industries and launch joint ventures.

Ivan Krupko believes that there are vast opportunities for bilateral cooperation. “There is no doubt that your visit will give a serious impetus to our contacts. China is one of our main partners. We attach great importance to the trade in goods and services between our region and China, as well as to interregional cooperation. We see that the demand for Belarusian goods among Chinese consumers is growing, so we are ready to increase supplies of products to the Chinese market,” he emphasized. He invited business circles of Sichuan Province to attend the Gomel Economic Forum to explore more specifically the potential for joint projects.

“Your country is developing dynamically. We have friendly relations with Gomel Oblast, although the distance between us is approximately 10,000 km. We have a proverb: “There is no distance for friendship.” I have carefully studied the potential of your region and I believe that there are great prospects for cooperation,” Xie Shanghua said.
