Development of Belarus-Kenya cooperation plan suggested

Belarus and Kenya should work out a bilateral cooperation development plan. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned it as he met with Kenya President William Ruto in Dubai on the sidelines of the 28th conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “You and I have already exchanged several phrases, opinions [before the summit's opening]. In order for us to have substantial talks and establish our relations (this is why we are going to talk), I think that you could come to us, I could come to you at a time that is convenient for you. As a result of these visits our specialists could work (just like with Zimbabwe and Equatorial Guinea) and we could put together some plan of our cooperation while understanding what you need from us. And we could look at your country and determine our needs.”

BelTA reported earlier that in November the Belarusian head of state extended greetings to the Kenyan president on the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. In his message Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the dialogue between Minsk and Nairobi is consistent and progressive. Priority areas for joint work have been identified, including mechanization of agriculture in Kenya, supply of Belarusian food products, development of business contacts.

“I am convinced that time has come to convert the potential accumulated over thirty years into concrete results,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized. “I suggest thoroughly discussing all possible areas of common interest during your visit to Minsk, which will advance our interaction to a brand new level.”
