Ambrazevich responds to unfounded political accusations against Belarus in OSCE

Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and head of the Belarusian delegation Yuri Ambrazevich responded to the unfounded political accusations against the Republic of Belarus as he addressed the 30th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council on 30 November, BelTA has learned.

"Ordinary people in our countries believe that the purpose of our meetings is to solve important problems. I am glad that a number of speakers meet these expectations today," Yuri Ambrazevich said. “Unfortunately, the majority of NATO and European Union states keep repeating the well-worn clichés and far-fetched, unfounded political accusations against the Republic of Belarus in the proverbial and convenient style known as ‘highly likely'. I really didn't want to start my speech with the ‘right of reply', but I will comment on a couple of points."

"In response to the deep concern of a number of European Union countries about the observance of human rights in Belarus, I would like to note that none of Belaurs' critics in this room will convince me that the human rights situation in their countries is better," the Belarusian diplomat said. “To understand that I am right, you just need to read the Universal Periodic Reviews by the UN Human Rights Council for each of the Western countries."

"If this is not enough, I propose that the Maltese Chairmanship include in the program of its work in the OSCE a mechanism similar to the universal periodic reviews for OSCE members. I suggest they start with Latvia," Yuri Ambrazevich said.

"The second point is regarding the accusations or assumptions of forced transfer or deportation of children from Ukraine. My response here is very short. No one has provided a single name. We are waiting," Yuri Ambrazevich said.
