Lukashenko arrives in Ostrovets after visiting Belarusian nuclear power plant

After visiting the Belarusian nuclear power plant Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko came to the nearby town of Ostrovets, BelTA has learned.

As of the beginning of the year Ostrovets District was home to about 28,700 people, including nearly 17,000 working age people and 5,800 children.

The fulfillment of the comprehensive plan on developing the region is in the center of attention of the head of state. The president is expected to get familiar with the work of the Ostrovets District Central Clinical Hospital. It is the country's only hospital that caters to the population of its own district and acts as an interregional and interdistrict diagnostics and treatment center.

The Ostrovets District Central Clinical Hospital comprises a stationary diagnostics and treatment complex, a nursing care hospital with general practitioner's ambulatory clinic, three general practitioner's ambulatory clinics, 15 rural health posts, a health post at premises of the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction site, and a health post at the state enterprise Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant.

A large multifunctional cultural and social complex has also been built in the town. The district capital also has an ice arena.
