Minsk is hosting the 15th International Congress of Slavists. The congress will run through 27 August. Partaking in the forum are over 600 scientists from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Israel, Italy, Spain, Canada, Lithuania, Russia, France, Switzerland, Japan and other countries. The congress comprises plenary and sectional reports, roundtables, meetings of special commissions accredited in the International Committee of Slavists.

International congresses of Slavists are of great significance for the development of Slavic studies and support of Slavic identity, which promote popularization of knowledge about Slavic languages, culture among non-Slavic countries.
Hosting the 15th International Congress of Slavists is very important for our country. Firstly, it will confirm the status of Belarus as a sovereign Slavonic state with original language, literature, and rich cultural heritage. Secondly, it will contribute to promoting Belarus and bringing its cultural realia in broad Slavonic context.
