The Grand Prix of the international theater festival Vasara 2013 (summer 2013) was awarded to the Queen of Spades of the Grodno regional puppet theater.
The festival, which was held under the patronage of Rimas Tuminas, arts director of Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow, took place in the Lithuanian town of Druskininkai.
The theme of the contest was the Classics and the Twenty-First Century.
The international jury announced the winners in 11 nominations, and the winner of the people’s choice award. Individual awards for contribution to theater and cinema were also presented to the member of the Vasara 2013 international jury Regimantas Adomaitis and to Lyudmila Chursina who presented the production "Eleanor and her men" on the last day of the festival.
Thirteen performances by theaters of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Orenburg were staged in Druskininkai. In addition, the competition program featured companies from Armenia, Belarus, Lithuania and Moldova.
