The Belarusian Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning of Serbia have signed a protocol of intent to cooperate in the area of geology. The document stipulates the agreement to explore several avenues. In particular, plans have been announced to set up a joint venture in Serbia to offer geologic exploration services as well as several joint ventures in the mining industry. The document pays close attention to further development of scientific and technical ties between Belarus and Serbia in geological exploration. The two ministries are intent on working together to carry out hydrogeological, engineering-geological surveys relevant for the development of mineral deposits.
Plans have been made to examine Serbia to detect potential modern hazardous geodynamic areas. The data will contribute to the safety and the prevention of emergencies at long-distance product pipelines, vital and environmentally hazardous installations.
