Belarus, China's Gansu Province interested in developing inter-regional projects

Charge d'Affaires of Belarus in the People's Republic of China Tatiana Kharlap met with a delegation from the Chinese province of Gansu headed by Vice Governor Cheng Xiaobo, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Beijing. "At the talks in Shanghai, Belarus was represented by diplomats of the Belarusian Embassy in China, consulates general of Belarus in Chongqing and Shanghai," the Belarusian embassy said. "The parties discussed the cooperation between Belarus and Gansu Province in various fields: trade, economy, investment, culture and education." The parties noted the high level of Belarusian-Chinese relations and mutual support during the first wave of coronavirus, first of all, mutual provision of humanitarian medical aid. Taking into account Gansu's experience and regional specialization in traditional Chinese medicine, Belarus welcomed the opening of the Chinese Medicine Center in the Chinese-Belarusian industrial park Great Stone with the participation of companies from this Chinese province. The parties agreed to intensify implementation of Gansu's projects in the Belarusian regions. The restaurant of Chinese cuisine in Belarus and also the Center for Research of Belarus at Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics were cited at the talks as positive examples. Gansu is a province in the north of the central part of the People's Republic of China. Lanzhou is the administrative center and the largest city of the province. The province is home to enterprises of petrochemical industry. There are 29 hydroelectric stations on the Huang He River. The province also boasts one of the world's largest wind energy complexes. The province is well-known for nonferrous metallurgy. Some 11% of Gansu is arable land. Green tea is grown in the mountains.
