On 5 August, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary, head of the CIS observation mission at the presidential elections of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The parties discussed the status of preparations for the meetings of the CIS statutory bodies scheduled for the second half of the year, Belarus' CIS presidency in 2021 and other pressing issues of multilateral cooperation in the CIS,” the press service informed. “Consideration was given to the course of the election campaign in the Republic of Belarus and to the issues related to the international observation of the presidential election,” the press service added.
The Belarusian side reaffirmed its readiness to provide CIS observation mission with the necessary assistance to carry out their mandate and to do everything possible to ensure a democratic and transparent electoral process that reflects the will of the people.
