Bellesbumprom's export to China up 40.9% in H1

The Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom expanded its export to China by more than 40% in H1, BelTA learned from the concern's spokesperson Ruzhena Novitskaya."In January-June the enterprises affiliated with the concern exported products worth $34.3 million to China, up 40.9% year-on-year. The concern used to supply only cellulose, paper and cardboard to this market, however, today it added timber and plywood to its export portfolio. This year, the share of China in the concern's aggregate exports rose from 8.6% to 12.8% year-on-year," Ruzhena Novitskaya informed. The concern views China as one of the most promising markets. "This is due to strong and comprehensive cooperation between Belarus and China. Chinese partners see great potential in Belarusian enterprises and are actively cooperating with them," the spokesperson noted. In the spring of 2020, the country launched a new logistics scheme that enables direct delivery of Belarusian cellulose to China by rail. Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill has already sent about 10 trains to China. The cargo is delivered to the customer in just 16 days. The enterprises of the concern are actively expanding their presence in other faraway markets. As a result, the export to Austria increased 8 times, to the United States 6.5 times, to India and Indonesia more than 3 times, to Great Britain, Switzerland, Ghana and Turkey 2-2.5 times. Deliveries to such markets as Bahrain, Canada, Israel and the Philippines are steadily growing. In January-June, the share of exports to non-CIS countries rose from 49.9% to 51.8% (by 1.9 percentage points) year-on-year. In H1 Bellesbumprom exported to 58 markets.
