Belarusian, Russian MPs to discuss Eurasian integration project in Minsk

A joint session of the Permanent Commission for International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus and the CIS Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma will be held in Minsk on 13 June. The session will discuss the prospects of the Eurasian integration, Chairman of the CIS Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma Leonid Slutsky told the media.
According to Leonid Slutsky, many issues will come under discussion and this session will not be a formal one. “We are on the way towards implementing the plans concerning the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union,” the Russian official noted.
This event will be followed by the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State. Prior to the joint session, the Belarusian and Russian MPs will hold a roundtable meeting as part of the Eurasian Economic Prospect forum that is due in Minsk on 12 June. Attending the roundtable meeting will be Speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergei Naryshkin. “The officials including the Ministers of the Eurasian Economic Commission will discuss the parliaments’ role in the establishment of the future Eurasian Union, including in the creation of its parliamentary dimension,” Leonid Slutsky stressed.
