Scientists of the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics have created a VSAT satellite terminal, the university’s Press Secretary Alena Sokolovskaya told media. The product can be used to transmit and receive television signal and to access the Internet at high speeds. It utilizes an antenna feeder system, original software, and a two-way radio for the Ka band. The Ka band coincides with the radio frequencies range allocated for use in Belarus. Apart from that, Ka band is high frequency and therefore the satellite can transmit more information. The VSAT terminal also has its own coding and decoding system, which is important for national and commercial security.
For the first time the VSAT terminal will be represented at the international specialized expo TIBO that will take place in Minsk on 23-26 April. The university intends to showcase 34 products ranging from information technologies used for education purposes (virtual simulators, digital books, subsystems Students, Methodological Support for Education Processes, Timetable and other ones) to products in the field of the assessment of the reliability of digital devices and information protection.
