Prospects of development of cooperation between Belarus and the EU, including within the framework of the Eastern Partnership Initiative were discussed in Brussels during meetings of Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Yelena Kupchina with EU officials. The parties discussed prospects for the development of relations between Belarus and the European Union, including the issues regarding the Eastern Partnership, the dialogue in the areas of mutual interest and the possibility of holding Belarusian-European consultations on trade issues. During the visit to Brussels Yelena Kupchina met with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule, Deputy Secretary General for the External Action Service (EAS) Helga Schmid, EAS Managing Director Luis Fernandez de la Pena, Deputy Director General for Trade at the European Commission, Peter Balas, EAS Director for Russia, Eastern Partnership, Regional Cooperation and OSCE Gunnar Wiegand, In addition, Yelena Kupchina met with Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok.
