The European Boxing Championships 2013 will be held in Minsk from 30 May to 9 June, and will bring together more than 50 nations. This was said by the Minister of Sports and Tourism of Belarus Alexander Shamko, who chaired the meeting of the organizing committee of the tournament, we learned from the press service of the sports department.
It is expected that the total number of participants, including judges, officials and support staff, who will arrive in Minsk will comprise about 500 people.
The decision to grant Belarus the right to host the European Boxing Championship was adopted on 19 April, 2012 at a meeting of the executive committee of the European Boxing Confederation. Belarusian application gathered the most votes. The tournament was originally scheduled for mid-May, but has since been postponed to a later date. The contract between EUBC and the Belarusian side was signed in Minsk on 14 February this year.
