Gerasimenko: There is no lack of information about Belarus in Latvia

There is no lack of information about Belarus in Latvia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Latvia Alexander Gerasimenko told reporters in Riga.
“There is no lack of information about Belarus in Latvia. We regularly organize press tours for Latvian journalists to Belarus, about four to five trips a year. They are carried out at the request of journalists. They come, see how we live and then tell their readers about Belarus,” the Ambassador said.
He noted that today the most advanced area in cooperation between the two countries is economy and trade. Last year, the trade between the two nations totaled $3 billion 425 million, twice the trade with neighboring Lithuania. In Latvia there are many Belarusian companies. There are nearly 1200 joint ventures in the Baltic country. According to Alexander Gerasimenko, Belarus holds a third of the commercial sales segment. A large role is assigned to engineering products. For example, every year the country sells 500 to 700 tractors to Latvia. "We also won the tender for delivery of trams to Daugavpils, which should be launched this year. Fierce competition among manufacturers once again proved that Belarusian trams are in great demand not only in the CIS but also in the EU," the Ambassador said.
