The talks on Belarus’ accession to the World Trade Organization are to be resumed at the end of the first quarter or the beginning of the second quarter of the year 2013. Belarus keeps working on its accession to the organization. The country has done a lot of paperwork, however, the plans to resume the negotiations have changed a little bit after a new person was appointed head of the task force on Belarus’ accession to the WTO. A representative of Turkey became a new head of the task force again.
Belarus has distributed all the necessary materials needed to hold a regular session of the task force, including a consolidated report on foreign trade legislation. If everything goes as planned, a meeting will take place in Geneva by the end of the first quarter or the beginning of the second quarter of the year. Members of the task force voiced no objections to the resumption of the talks.
