Belarus and the Philippines are going to arrange visits of ministers and businessmen in the near future. The matter was discussed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Russia Alejandro Mosquera in Moscow. The diplomats discussed a wide range of matters related to the bilateral cooperation, including the bilateral legal framework, trade and economic links, cooperation in international organizations. The ambassadors shared views on ways to expand trade between the two countries. The parties also considered closer cooperation in the field of investments and technologies, education, culture, information and tourism. They confirmed their commitment to maintain close links. As to figures, since 2009 the bilateral trade has been steadily increasing. Belarus’ export to the Philippines is expanding faster than the overall bilateral trade. In January-November 2012 the trade amounted to $36 million (106.5% as against the same period in 2011). In 2012 the bulk of Belarusian exports to the Philippines included potash fertilizers and tires. The Philippine import to Belarus was dominated by agricultural produce, seafood and textiles.
