Belarus, Azerbaijan announce first joint contest of research projects

Belarus and Azerbaijan have announced the first joint contest of fundamental research projects.
The contest is part of the agreement signed by the Science Development Foundation under the President of Azerbaijan, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research in Minsk in September 2012.
The embassy informed that the contest is held in the following fields of science: physics, mathematics, engineering sciences, humanitarian and social sciences. To participate in the contest projects should be conducted by research teams of Belarusian and Azerbaijani scientists. The contest provides for grants for the projects involving the purchase of Belarusian equipment by Azerbaijani scientists. The contest aims at creating additional research opportunities, promoting international academic cooperation, supporting promising research projects by setting up joint Azerbaijani-Belarusian research teams.
The results of the contest will be announced in May 2013. The signing of the contracts between the managers of the winning projects and the Science Development Foundation is scheduled for June. The finances for the projects will be provided starting July.
