Number of passengers carried by Belavia up 24% in 2012

     In 2012, the national air company Belavia carried more than 1.284 million passengers, up 24% over last year.
    Last year Belavia carried more than 1,700 tonnes of cargo and mail, up 7% over 2011. These results have been achieved due to an increase in transit passenger numbers and mail. Experts noted that Belavia intends to pay special attention to the development of transit traffic.
In December the passenger traffic increased by 27%, amounting to almost 82,000. During the same period, the national air company transported 172,4 tonnes of cargo and mail, down 1.3% than in December 2011.
     Founded in 1996, the national air carrier Belavia is the largest air carrier in Belarus. It is based in the national airport Minsk and offers regular flights from Minsk, Gomel, and Grodno to 42 destinations in 24 countries of Europe and Asia. Belavia’s services meet the highest international safety standards.
