Economy Ministry now in charge of government purchases in Belarus

        The Belarusian Economy Ministry has been chosen to be the government agency in charge of government purchases. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed relevant decree, the press service of the head of state reported. The document was adopted in view of the fact that the law on government purchases of 13 July 2012 came into force on 1 January 2013.
        The procedure to choose the organizer for centralizing government purchases has been stipulated.
Apart from that, in order to bring the Belarusian legislation on government purchases into compliance with the law and the agreement on government purchases signed in Moscow on 9 December 2010 amendments will be introduced to individual decrees of the Belarus President, with several decrees and individual paragraphs of decrees now invalidated.
