Andreichenko: Newly-elected MPs adopt key documents at first session

Some documents passed by the new composition of the House of Representatives are of utmost importance for the country, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said at the closing of the first session of the House of Representatives. Vladimir Andreichenko informed that the session discussed 30 draft laws.
Vladimir Andreichenko reminded that the MPs passed a bill on child benefits. Economic matters were also in focus during the first session. “The manufacturing sector is facing pressing issues related to technological upgrade, use of local resources, creation of highly productive jobs,” Vladimir Andreichenko said. He added that the success of the efforts directly depends on the amount of investments raised. The Speaker underlined that the work on the draft law “Concerning investments” should be finished as soon as possible.  Another challenge is optimizing the use of energy resources. The ways to streamline energy consumption are set forth in the draft law on energy conservation passed by the MPs in the first reading. Vladimir Andreichenko noted that the year 2013 was declared the Year of Frugality, therefore, the work on the document should be completed within a short period of time.
