Domestic production of components can increase car assembly localization in SES

The localization of car assembly production in the SES member states should be increased by means of using car components produced in the Customs Union. The matter was discussed during a videoconference held by the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The videoconference was chaired by Chief of the Secretariat of the member of the Board (Minister) for Industry and Agricultural Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission Nikolai Zaichenko. Taking part in the videoconference were industry chiefs of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. They discussed views of the Customs Union member states on establishment and development of car assembly factories.
The parties emphasized the need to encourage and deepen manufacturing cooperation between car assembly factories and producers of car components and aggregates within the framework of the Single Economic Space. The participants of the videoconference also discussed compliance with international technical and environmental requirements and quality standards.
They decided to approve the suggestion of the commission regarding the establishment and development of car assembly factories. The matter will be discussed again taking into consideration suggestions and proposals that will be voiced by the Advisory Committee on Industry at the EEC which session is scheduled for 5 December 2012.
