UN appreciates Belarus’ commitment to combating human trafficking

The United Nations appreciates Belarus’ leadership and commitment to combating human trafficking. Representatives of the UN member states, international organizations, and civil society expressed their support for Belarus’ anti-trafficking efforts at a special high-level event “Improving the coordination of efforts against trafficking in persons” on the occasion of the first observation of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons established by the General Assembly. The event was held at the UN Headquarters in New York, we learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
Belarus was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Valentin Rybakov. He informed the attendees about Belarus’ domestic and global efforts to prevent human trafficking and help trafficking victims.
The Belarusian diplomat urged the international community to use the World Day against Trafficking in Persons to commemorate human trafficking victims and appreciate activists who help governments and international organizations root out all forms of modern slavery.
The session marked the beginning of a series of events that are to be held all over the world on the occasion of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
